Vendor Compliance & Resources

Building Strong Vendor Partnerships Through Compliance

At Detroit Switch Inc., quality doesn't begin on our production floor. Reliability doesn't begin when a switch is assembled. It begins much earlier, with the vendors who provide the materials and components that go into every Detroit Switch product.

For decades, we've partnered with companies that share our commitment to quality and dependable performance. Together, we help support customers in military, marine, rail, power generation, and industrial applications where reliability is essential.

Vendor compliance provides the framework for those partnerships, helping ensure quality expectations and customer requirements are consistently understood throughout the supply chain.

Why Vendor Compliance Matters

Many of Detroit Switch's customers operate in industries with rigorous contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements.

When those customers issue contracts to Detroit Switch, certain requirements must also be communicated to the vendors who provide the materials and components incorporated into our products. These contract flowdowns help preserve quality, maintain documentation, and support compliance throughout the manufacturing process.

Maintaining strong vendor compliance helps support:

Product quality
Supply chain compliance
Customer audits
Material traceability
Contractual obligations
Long-term product reliability

By working together, Detroit Switch and its vendors help protect the integrity of the products our customers depend on.

What We Ask of Our Vendors

Detroit Switch strives to make vendor compliance straightforward, practical, and transparent.

Purchase orders communicate the quality and documentation requirements associated with each project. Depending on the customer or application, vendors may also receive customer-specific flowdown documents outlining additional contractual obligations.

These requirements may include:

Certificates of Conformance
Material certifications
Material traceability documentation
Customer-specific quality records
Other documentation required by contract

Whenever possible, our Quality and Purchasing teams work with vendors to utilize existing documentation that satisfies customer requirements rather than creating unnecessary administrative work.

Our goal is a robust compliance process that supports both quality and efficiency.

Material Traceability & Supply Chain Integrity

Material traceability is an essential part of maintaining confidence in the products we manufacture.

Detroit Switch works with trusted vendors to help verify the origin of applicable materials and components while maintaining the documentation required by our customers.

These practices help:

Verify material origin
Support quality assurance
Improve audit readiness
Reduce supply chain risk
Maintain customer confidence

For many of the industries we serve, knowing where materials come from is every bit as important as how they perform.

Cybersecurity & Industry Compliance

Today's compliance expectations extend beyond manufacturing and documentation.

Detroit Switch maintains NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 cybersecurity compliance to support government and defense-related programs that require enhanced protection of controlled information.

We also participate in GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program), helping reduce the risk of counterfeit electronic components entering the supply chain by sourcing electronic parts through original manufacturers and authorized distributors.

Together, these efforts reinforce Detroit Switch's commitment to maintaining a secure, dependable, and compliant supply chain.
